Fortunately, that has never happened. The defib is designed to tell you exactly what to do. It keeps close track of what you do and adjusts the instructions to your pace, so you don’t get overwhelmed and the machine doesn’t go too fast or too slow for you. If necessary, the instructions will be repeated, rephrased, or additional instructions will be given to ensure your understanding.
Someone with a defibrillating heart, also known colloquially as cardiac arrest, has the best chance of survival if he or she receives a shock within 3 to 5 minutes. Unfortunately, emergency responders are often unable to arrive on site within that short time. The Resusitation Council recommends that in the event of cardiac arrest, bystanders take immediate action.
No. The defib has a battery that can deliver more than 200 shocks and this battery has a 4-year manufacturer’s warranty.
No, this is not necessary. The defib has a battery that can deliver more than 200 shocks and this battery has a 4-year manufacturer’s warranty.
The Philips defibs are the most user-friendly defibs in the world because they adapt the spoken instructions to the pace of the rescuer. The HS1 has a handle that turns the device on without having to press the “on” button. It also contains a metronome (time counter) so that you can clearly hear the pace at which you need to perform CPR.
No we do not.
We offer registering a defib at the Circuit as a service to our customers.
Defib Service Plus has a rigorous maintenance program and Philips defibs perform an extensive self-test routine every day. Most defib malfunctions are caused by inadequate maintenance. A Philips defib requires maintenance every 2 years (replacement of pads & battery), and since we always perform this, the defib will always be ready for deployment. You can always check this yourself: if the green light in the upper left corner is flashing green, Philips guarantees 100% that the defib is ready for use. In the unlikely event that a malfunction is detected during the daily self-test, rendering it no longer ready for use, the green light will flash red and the defib will sound loud chirps to alert you that action is required. In such a case, we will exchange the entire defib on-site.
All defibs can be deployed in the rain. But please note that for the pads to stick on the chest, the chest needs to be dry to apply the pads, so usually you either move the patient indoors, or use an umbrella.
It is likely that there is a lease contract of 60 months (or longer). With us, you are free to cancel after 3 months: no obligations. Also all maintenance on-site is included in the monthly fee with Defib Service Plus and we provide free exchange on-site if you have deployed your defib.
If you live alone, having a defib at home unfortunately is not a solution because there is no one to operate the defib when you have a cardiac arrest. However, if you live in a residential complex, you can ask the housing association to take out a subscription. This way, no individual has to bear the costs, and everyone in the building can use it.
Yes, you can order as a sports club. We recommend the Home/Office package for placement in the clubhouse.
Credit card, Bancontact, SEPA, bank transfer.
The Philips HS1 in the Home / Office package. The Philips FRx in the Car package
Absolutely! Philips defibs guide the rescuer with clear, spoken instructions. The defib adapts to the pace of the rescuer. We always recommend training for CPR and defib operation, but even someone with no experience operating a defib can perform a successful rescue with a Philips defib.
We substantiated this by comparing all information from all defib manuals. The most important points that a good defib must meet are ease of use, reliability, and speed. Philips defibs are the most user-friendly of all defibs because the device adapts to the pace of the rescuer. The reliability is very high because Philips (and one other brand, Cardiac Science) are the only brands in the world that check all components of the defib during daily self-tests. With a time-to-shock of 8 seconds, Philips defibs are also the fastest among defibs, along with 2 other models (Physio Control CR2 and the defib3 from Zoll). Philips defibs are by far the best-selling defibs in the world, and for good reason!
Unfortunately, the government still does not require defibs in many places. Sometimes municipalities provide partial subsidies for a defib, but this is not often the case.
No we do not.
We provide the defibs with English instructions as standard, but upon request, we can also provide a defib in another language. Only one language is possible, and it is programmed at the factory and cannot be changed afterward.
No, for large volume orders we do NOT offer discounts on the monthly fees. The monthly fees include all possible costs.
The FRx pads are suitable for all ages. The infant/child key makes the FRx very suitable for use on children up to 25 kg. However, an HS1 can be deployed on a small child as well.

Maximum 3 working days. If we receive the online payment before 1:00 PM, we will send the package on the same working day. For remote areas, delivery may take longer.
The defib can also be taken with you on trips, by bike, car, train, and it can even be taken in carry-on luggage on a plane.
The Philips FRx Home or Car package are suitable for placement in a vehicle or on a ship. The defib will then be placed in a perspex wall bracket.
Both the Philips HS1 and FRx are suitable for use on individuals of all ages, including small children (up to 25 kg). The Infant/Child Key included in the FRx Car package makes the FRx specially adept for small children, hence the recommendation to take the FRx Car package in case the defib will be placed at a location where there are many children.
The solutions we currently offer are not suitable for placement outdoors or in an outdoor cabinet, even if it is heated.
That varies depending on the defib. We always ensure a timely on-site defib exchange. When your defib is due for maintenance, it will be exchanged at your premises for a defib that has just had a maintenance service. This ensures your defib is 100% ready for use for the next 2 years. Maintenance is also required after deployment or when the defib beeps (indicating a malfunction during self-tests), and we always resolve this with an onsite exchange of the entire defib.
You will never be without a defib. When your defib is due for a 2-yearly maintenance service, we will visit you to collect your defib. At the same time, we will bring another defib for you, one that has just had a maintenance service and is 100% ready for use for the next 2 years. We leave this defib with you for the next 2 years.
Every 2 years, your defib requires maintenance. This is done through an on-site exchange at your premises. After 2 years, a courier will visit you to collect the defib due for maintenance. At the same time, this courier will bring another defib that has just been serviced and is 100% ready for use for the next 2 years. We leave this defib with you, so you always have your defib onsite. If your defib experiences a malfunction or has been deployed for a rescue, we also provide a free on-site exchange. There is no limit to the number of times we provide free exchanges after deployment.
An AED does not need installation, when you receive it, you only need to remove a battery strip and after that the defib will do a self-test.
We offer wall a free perspex wall mount.
All maintenance is performed at our Defib Service Center. When a defib is due for maintenance, has been deployed, or indicates a malfunction, it is exchanged at the customer’s premises for a defib equipped with new pads and a battery.
Yes, your defib is insured against theft, damage, and malfunction. No additional costs are charged for this.
There is no limit to the number of times you can exchange the defib after deployment.
We insure the AED all-risk against theft and damage. However, it is important that the AED is placed in a place where unauthorized persons cannot reach or where it cannot easily be taken. Some customers choose to place the AED in a cupboard with an alarm, or in a less visible location such as the first floor.
In the event of theft, a report must always be made to the police and this must be shared with us. We then evaluate the situation together and take measures to prevent recurrence before sending a ready-to-use AED.
We do not offer discounts on multiple AEDs, we do offer discounts on the following:
Pay for 11 months at once and get 12;
Pay for 27 months at once and get 30;
Pay for 50 months at once and get 60.
Yes, a Philips AED can be used on a pregnant woman. It is important to always act immediately in the event of cardiac arrest, regardless of the pregnancy, as saving the mother’s life also offers the best chance for the baby’s survival. Fetal heart rate has no effect on the analysis because the AED’s electrodes are placed on the mother’s chest and the device is designed to read the strong signals from an adult heart. The fetal heartbeat is much weaker and is not picked up by the AED electrodes placed on the mother.
Yes, you can always take your AED with you on holiday and rest assured that your AED is fully insured. Just keep in mind that we cannot carry out an exchange outside <the country where you ordered the AED>. Fortunately, the chance of double deployments during holidays is nil.
We can offer this. It is not included as standard in the package, but if you indicate this when ordering under ‘order notes’, we will add it.
No, not at the moment. We only offer AEDs that are intended for installation indoors in heated areas, the HS1 Home/Office package, or for use in vehicles or vessels, the FRx package Auto.
Certainly! Although our AEDs are only suitable for installation in a heated indoor space (HS1 Package Home / Office) or in a boat or vehicle (FRx Package Car), both types of AEDs can be used outside in emergencies.
No, our AEDs are not suitable for placement in an outdoor cabinet and are therefore not insured. We only offer AEDs that are intended for installation indoors in heated areas, the HS1 Home/Office package, or for use in vehicles or vessels, the FRx package Auto.
It is important that the AED remains within its temperature range, otherwise it may malfunction. You want to prevent this, because you want to be able to rely on your AED when the time comes. Fortunately, Philips AEDs perform daily self-tests, including a temperature test. The chance of a malfunction with an HS1 is greater when it is placed in a boat or vehicle, because the temperature often drops below 10 degrees C in the evening. That is why we recommend the FRx, but we still advise you to bring the AED indoors at extreme temperatures. Given your unique situation with a home on a powerboat, an HS1 might suffice if temperatures stay between 50 and 43 degrees year-round. However, if it drops below 10 degrees C on cold winter days without heating, then the FRx would be a better option. You are of course the most familiar with the climate conditions on board, so I trust that you will make the best choice based on your experiences.
During regular, preventive maintenance, the pads should be replaced every 2 years and the battery every 4 years. We do this at our service center in Eemnes, NL. The pads must be replaced after use. The battery can deliver 200 shocks and does not need to be replaced after use. We replace the pads through an on-site exchange of the entire AED.
There are two types of defibrillators that can be operated by untrained people, the fully automatic AED and the semi-automatic AED. After analyzing the heart rhythm, a fully automatic AED gives a warning that a shock is about to be administered, after which the AED starts counting down until the shock. No fully automatic machine can analyze and count down within 10 seconds. The patient must not be touched during analysis and countdown. That is why no other AED complies with an important guideline of the NRR (Dutch Resuscitation Council), namely the recommendation never to interrupt chest compressions for longer than 10 seconds. Philips semi-automatic AEDs analyze within 8.2 seconds and therefore meet the important “10 seconds” recommendation of the NRR.
The AED is designed to tell you exactly what to do. It keeps close track of your actions and adjusts the instructions to your pace, so you don’t get overwhelmed and the device doesn’t go too fast or too slow for you. If necessary, instructions will be repeated, rephrased, or provided with additional instructions to ensure your understanding.

We do not supply any loose pads, but with our concept you don’t need them. We always exchange the entire AED free of charge after deployment, so you’ll always have a ready-to-use AED with new electrode pads.
Lasts at least 4 years. Further see above. After 4 years you will receive a message that we will replace the battery. For this purpose, we will return the entire AED and you will receive a new one from us.
At least 2 years – we record the best before or expiration date of the pads and we also keep track of the battery life. Before the pads or battery expires, we will send you an email with the upcoming exchange. You will then receive a fresh AED with new pads and battery on time – and you will have an AED that can last for the next two years.
Yes, of course, our Philips FRx can be taken in the car. Store the AED within the recommended temperature range, especially since cars can be exposed to extreme temperatures. In summer the temperature in a car can rise quickly, and in winter it can become very cold. This can affect the performance of the battery and electrodes. If possible, park the car in the shade or in a garage to avoid extreme temperatures.
Yes, our Philips FRx can be taken on a boat. The AED is not water-proof (do not drop it into water), but it is water-resistant against splashes.
“The AED is usually allowed in the luggage compartment at the bottom of the plane or as hand luggage.
Since airlines such as KLM also have AEDs on board, it is possible to take the AED with you.
To be sure, contact the airline to confirm that you can take the AED with you.
Always take the purchase invoice for the AED with you.
It is wise to also bring the MSDS document (Material Safety Data Sheet), which provides information about the
composition of the product. You can download these documents for:
MSDS loose battery.
MSDS battery in the Philips HeartStart HS1 AED.
Due to the lithium battery in the AED, there are some conditions attached to taking the battery with you:
Lithium batteries may only be taken in hand luggage.
The packaging of a new Philips battery meets the requirements.
If you check the AED as checked baggage, the AED must be completely turned off by removing the battery.
You must then take the loose battery with you in your hand luggage.
You can also choose to take the AED including battery in your hand luggage.”
You can take your Philips AED with you on holiday. We would like to emphasize and draw attention to the fact that the AED must be handled with care. If you travel by car, no special measures are necessary. Please note that an on-site exchange abroad is not feasible due to shipping and delivery times. However, when traveling by air, there are a number of things you should take into account:
Philips HeartStart HS1 AED stored with battery and electrodes installed: 10 to 43 ºC. For deployment on a patient: 0 to 50 ºC
The AED performs a daily self-test. If the temperature is too high or too low
the test is postponed. If the test is postponed 3 times the AED will tell you that the ambient temperature is too high or too low.

You don’t have to buy replacement parts. If a part needs to be replaced, we will arrange this for you.
Don’t worry, there is nothing wrong with the AED. During the daily self-test, the light lights up continuously for 1 minute. After the self-test, the AED returns to standby and flashes normally every 5/6 seconds.

The AED malfunctions. The AED indicates this by a loud beep and the LED light will flash red.
If the AED is out of order for too long, the battery will be consumed and the AED may fail. The AED performs a daily self-test. At too high or too low a temperature the test is postponed. If the test is postponed 3 times the AED tells you that the ambient temperature is too high or too low.
When the AED emits a signal, we recommend inserting and removing the battery and see if the problem is solved. If not, press the blue information button and listen to what the AED says. There may be a problem with the battery or pads. Has the AED been exposed to a temperature that is too high or too low? Allow it to acclimatize at room temperature. Is the AED still beeping? Then we need all the necessary information for a SWAP application.
